WHAT DO YOU SAY ??

Let me get a serious post done here!!

During one of my frequent calls home, my brother sounded upset as none of his close friends are at chennai anymore!!.But why he has to be upset?? My brother is a Doctor..Still studying.....doing PG now, whereas his friends that did engineering are sort of settling in life with a decent job/salary in IT field at just about 24 years of age. Recently i read this column at Rediff.
Though he got no regrets choosing medicine as his career ,he still feels that he missed the boat for not opting for BioTech at Anna Univ.I argue with him that its not just about settling early in one's own life but to make a difference in someone's life. However,he has his concerns..
Any comments/suggestions ??

i didn't get in to medical college, i was worried that i couldn't make it, but after 4 years of engineering i am happy what iam now...

So i am sure once ur brother finishes his education and gets into his real job he is sure gonna like it, afterall money is not everything in life, it doesn't mean that he is not gonna make money, infact he is gonna make more than us.

As u said as a doctor he is gonna make difference in somebody's life, that satisfaction cant be bought by money....

Its just like this
"The Road not Taken" by Robert Frost

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

this happens in everyones life...

Everybody wants to settle down early, but its the long term benifits one needs to consider. Brooding about what has already happened would just inhibit the current progress. Do whatever you want to with your full heart. He can't possibly join UG again! So, let it pass and be happy with the path you have taken. Cheers :)

hi Prabhu,
I agree with u tat its not really about settling early in ones life
Job satisfaction is MOST important.
When he made a career choice to pursue medicine, knowingly or unknowingly he has chosen to pursue THE MOST NOBLE job that the almighty has entrusted upon humans.....tat of serving n saving fellow humans.....N what can be more satisfying than that??? :)

Hey Prabhu,

i find no reason why ur brother should be upset about his job, the profession he has chosen is one of the best, or infact its the best.My dream was always to wear a white coat and rap a steth around my neck, but unfortunately i could not make it, it is the feeling of helping people by fighting directly with god that matters. He must be pleased that he has an opportunity to help people directly. In my words he is a lucky guy. This is a profession in which u grow with age.

hey adengappa...my sis is a doc...did her mbbs & md from india & has completed her mrcp now..she is currently working in uk...ava kashtapattu padichappo ellam "paavumnu" ninachom...it took a long while for her to settle but she says its the most satisfying...i agree to her...engineers have no job security...enniku evan thorathuvaanu therla..we are dependent on others most of the time...its not like that for doctors..i think that once ur bro starts earning, he'll know his value and how much the society values him...innikum avaluku irukara madhippum mariyaadhaiyum enga veetla engaluku kidaiyaadhu...rightly so!

Someone sent me this when I had a similar predicament. I was told that this was a dialogue from Simbu movie aiming at Dhanush.. or is it the otherway round? I haven' watched any of their movies in the recent past.
