I was calling my mobile network carrier center yesterday to renew my contract with them.
Here is the verbatim b/w me and the Customer service Rep :
CsR : Sir, you qualify for a phone upgrade .Which brand would you prefer ? (She rattled out various brand/model names of phones )
I : I'd prefer a Nokia anytime..
CsR : Oh great ! Is there a reason why Indians prefer Nokia ?
I : ;-)
............
Given the length of my surname and the vowels in it (my accent aswell), she would have guessed I'm an Indian and Secondly, she seems to have an impression that Indians prefer Nokia phones over others !!
............
Is that true ? Are Nokia phones the best sellers in India ?

That is true! But i dont use Nokia, as a matter of fact I dont even cellphones much :)
Nokia I think is the most sold phone in the UK too. But did read somewhere that its not the case in the US, is that so?

@WA : Here in US, one usually buys the phone with a package that the mobile company offers.The brands/variety are very limited and few phones are pretty expensive.People might prefer to go for free /rebated phones which the mobile company offers with the minutes package :-)

my first GSM fone was Sony Erricson, o ipted for it just to differentiate from the crowd.
'ellarum nokia ve vangaraanga, naanum edukku vanganum' types...
i had a lot of trouble with charging that silly sony ericcson,
aprom thooki potutu, i have one low cost nokia. no regrets at all.
'pesunga pesunga pesikitte irunga' nu naane Nokia ku vilambaram pannuven..
absolutely no problems.
Sometimes i forget when i charged my phone last.. once charge pannina 1 week varudhu... and sony ericcson hardly managed for 2 days..
clarity is good
reception is good
and last but not the least very user friendly...
since nokia is ubiquitous, eppo engey venumnaalum u can borrow nokia charger...
Nokia rocks in india...

I used Nokia phone while i was in India, and used a moto for a while here in US.That phone gave me lots of problems,sent it for replacement couple of times,and the charge in it sucked big time.
So,this time when i was offered a choice of phones,I asked for Nokia without even a second thought :-)
Nokia is the best seller in India. its True! many prefer for Nokia.
