INDEPENDENCE DAY GREETINGS !!

"Long years ago we made a tryst with destiny, and now the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially. At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.(New Delhi, India, August 14, 1947)"

Listen to Awake to freedom ---- Speech by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Friends, India Independence Day Parade will be held on Sunday August 21,2005 ;1:00Pm at Madison Avenue,NewYork from 41st to 27th Streets . Anyone from Tristate region/East coast participating in the parade ?

INDEPENDENCE DAY GREETINGS !!
PSYCHOLOGY RELATED TO DEATH: This was easy for me to read in theory, but its very difficult to realize in real life.
Just thought of sharing few information on grieving process.
..................................................
Five Stages Of Grief: Kubler Ross

1.Denial and Isolation.
At first, we tend to deny the loss has taken place, and may withdraw from our usual social contacts. This stage may last a few moments, or longer.
2.Anger.
The grieving person may then be furious at the person who inflicted the hurt (even if she's dead), or at the world, for letting it happen. He may be angry with himself for letting the event take place, even if, realistically, nothing could have stopped it.
3.Bargaining.
Now the grieving person may make bargains with God, asking, "If I do this, will you take away the loss?"
4.Depression.
The person feels numb, although anger and sadness may remain underneath.
5.Acceptance.
This is when the anger, sadness and mourning have tapered off. The person simply accepts the reality of the loss.

Grief professionals often use the concept of "Grief Work" to help the bereaved through grief resolution. One common definition of Grief Work is summarized by the acronym TEAR:
T = To accept the reality of the loss
E = Experience the pain of the loss
A = Adjust to the new environment without the lost object
R = Reinvest in the new reality

My Grand Mother....

August 10,2005 . I woke up with a shocking news.My Grandmother passed away at her home town. A rude reality to believe. It hurts even more that am at a distant land, and am left all alone to handle the grief by myself. I was told that she was fine, playing with her grandsons(My little cousins) till 6 PM IST ,but by 7 pm she was gone..Acute myocardial infarction took her life. She lived her life till 85 years of age.

She got married at an early age, lost her husband within years of marriage (my Mom was 10 years old when her father passed away),yet she raised her 5 children single handed, educated them and got them settled in life.

I should share my recent memories of my paati.I still remember the day how happy she was when i handed over my first salary to her and got her a saree. She finds pride in telling everyone that i did the hearing evaluation for her and prescribed a hearing aid,and my brother is her "family doctor". Even during my recent trip to India, she prepared my favorite dishes and fed me.She prepared sambar podi for me,and i still have that pack labelled "paati sambar podi".

Let me end here before i breakdown again. All i could do is just pray for her.
May her soul rest in peace.

CRICKET-One of the frequent topics that i talk about with my colleagues from the caribbeans.A Jamaican colleague of mine, who earlier used to play for his country ,was upset about the recent performances of West Indies team.

Huh...What do i say about our Indian Team ??
