Turn me on !!

TURN ME ON : This song by Reggae/Soca star Kevin Lyttle is one of my all time favorites that i often listen to .There are many remix versions and this has been Desified as a pop album by Raghav. Recently, i heard the same tune and background being used for a Hindi movie song..and am still unable to trace the name of the movie.

Dear fellow bloggers :: if you come across this inspired Hindi movie song..do let me know....Thanks !!

Versions of my name....

PRA-BHU : Just 2 syllables , but people call me many other names.Am all ears to them--enjoying various versions of my name..

Pra-hu (Sounds chinese )
Pra-hoo ( " )
Prab-lu
Praebooo ..
Pablo (Easy - common name )
Prabhy
Pra-fhu (as pronounced )
Trabu
Prambu
Mr.P (Aioo,asingama iruke )

Nowadays ,i use syllable tapping-count method when i pronounce my name .Bringing the thumb to the little finger for "Pra "and count next to ring finger for "Bhu"..It eases out error productions..Try out !!

No wonder :: My friend Bharat is being called as Brett .

Just curious :: How are you being called ?

MADE IN CHINA

Over the past weekends, iam kind of hooked up watching chinese movies (not those traditional Jackie Chan/Jet Li movies). Special mentions to House of Flying Daggers and Kungfu Hustle .Thanks to Blockbusters.....These are awesome action movies laced with amazing storylines . These are a must watch for breathtaking display of martial arts, costumes and the locations of the shoot. Let me not review it,but i do suggest you to catchup with these movies . The flip part is that, but for subtitles in English, you are lost.

Well..Am already waiting for the next weekend........

Thanks for your comments to my previous post .Let me post my views here :These are NOT GENERALIZED views but OBSERVATIONS of mine..

1.Many have commented on the timid nature of Indians that we tend to speak/write in a more submissive manner. Attitude also matters..For instance : En officela work pannum Russians/Germans pesum pothu,i always felt they used rude and dominating words to convey themselves, compared to the polite talk of Americans. May be history got an influence on them.I read elsewhere that McCauley system was implemented to train Havildars/Clerks of the erstwhile British Raj, and there has been no change in the system since independence...

2.Again ,we address bureaucrats as His Highness/மாண்புமிகு etc..whereas here, its just Mr.President.In schools, we use Sir/Madam to address teachers ,but its just Ms.A /Mr.X ..Attitude matters again ..

3.Though we were colonized, we never had a mentality/feeling that affect us in everyday life that we were ruled once .India, as a country has come a long way since 60 years after independence compared to other countries.

4.Am just interested in finding out why no Britishers stayed back in India, while atleast a minority of population is seen in countries like zimbabwe/south africa.

Any comments ??

???

This incident happened to me afew years ago. Once,I was writing a letter to my higher-ups that included salutations like -I kindly request you-sincerely-humbly -obligingly-etc etc.An ABCD cousin of mine, who oversaw the letter chided me for writing in slave english and reformatted the contents.. On a second thought, i felt he was right. The letter needs to convey its contents than those unnecessary salutations.

Is that the effect of Lord McCauley's Education system in India ??
And there has been no major reforms in education since independence..and we still follow it.....

And again YES, the same education system has provided opportunities for scores of us to explore the world !!

Life's like that !!

Last weekend was great, asusual getting around the city with my friends for the Nth time..It was a saturday night and we were heading for home.Unfortunately, one of my friends got hurt in his leg and was limping while walking. We were in a hurry to catch a train ,so he put his hands across my shoulders and were walking towards the platform...Suddenly,I was taken aback for a moment when i overheard this statement from a lady behind us......She quipped......."Saturday night...Chillout young men"....
.............................................
In this city, its quite common to see people belonging to various ethnic background being employed in many of the business establishments and shopping malls.A few days back,i was checking garment accessories in mens section, and a lady (customer) walked to me and asked if the size fits her ??..What do i say ?? Probably she mistook me as a sales person !! IS IT JUST ME ??
.............................................

Just read about this in todays newspaper !! Take a look !!

MaMa....VaaMa....MoMA.....

Posted by Picasa

I accompanied my friend, an avid museum-goer to MoMA . He went agog ,appreciating each and every frame of the Modern Arts/Pictures,but to me it looked like an abstract score of scribbles, paintings and colors. Though i could infer few of them, i was often flummoxed as how to interpret these creations.

Here are my questions:

1.How is a Modern art interpreted ?
2.Is the inference left to the assumption of the observer or is there a hidden meaning for the art ?
3.Why is that a Modern art requires more deeper insight than a superficial inference ?
4.Should the creativity/ideas of the artist match the observer ?
5.Are there any other fields where modern concepts are applied ?

Sambhar Tales-2

Where is the Drumstick ??

Wake up TAMILNADU TOURISM !!

Sambhar Tales......

Smelling Sambhar from witchyangel's blog....

I and my roommates (a Bangalore guy/a Andhra guy) take turns to cook everything except sambhar.
The Reason:
My Kannada roomie adds jaggery everytime he cooks sambhar which we(the other two) couldnot stand !!
My Andhra roomie adds more chili powder (very hot) in his preparation which we,(the other two) couldnot stand.
My preparation is the "BEST Tamil Nadu istyle" and they always find fault about it...

We would never compromise on the "authentic taste " of the sambhar. Is that right??
