I totally agree with you Prabhu. Over the years, I have lived in different parts of the US and you will be amazed at the different dialicts. What is interesting is, many of the americans do not travel much within the country and they are not familiar about the dialects.

Just like different dialects of Tamil, English as a language has varied dialects..not to mention about the asian and hispanic dialectical varieties of English..
The CLD-Culturally and Linguistically Diverse population poses a challenge to us during clinical evaluations..
Btw,i took accent reduction classes b4 i started my practice..that too for afri amer english..Wha'am sayin ??

Nice post. That link to Speech Accent Archive was cool, was nice to listen to the variations in accents.
So far i'd observed only the Afro American and Mexican way of speaking english.
