MaMa....VaaMa....MoMA.....

Posted by Picasa

I accompanied my friend, an avid museum-goer to MoMA . He went agog ,appreciating each and every frame of the Modern Arts/Pictures,but to me it looked like an abstract score of scribbles, paintings and colors. Though i could infer few of them, i was often flummoxed as how to interpret these creations.

Here are my questions:

1.How is a Modern art interpreted ?
2.Is the inference left to the assumption of the observer or is there a hidden meaning for the art ?
3.Why is that a Modern art requires more deeper insight than a superficial inference ?
4.Should the creativity/ideas of the artist match the observer ?
5.Are there any other fields where modern concepts are applied ?

I think what you said in 4 is true...they should match..but according, art is bull crap..i throuroughly agree with the scene in "kadala kadala"..where kamal wipes the canvas after pouring coke on it...and then all 3 go"Wow"...

I thought to appreciate modern art, you have to be "super intelligent"... you know, you pretend you enjoy it and know everything about it, when in reality you are wondering why you are being tested :)

modern art was invented to identify certain sections of the society. If you don't understand it, you are normal. If you do, then you are a psychopath.

hmm. there are lots of ways to interpret a piece of work. it is not applicable only to paintings. the controvery about Our national anthem, is one such.

i have never seen a modern art which really conveyed something.... the first picture, everyone can easily do with their geometry boxes...
