I miss my college days !!

Here are few incidents from my college life !!

1.This happened during my first year, first week of UG Course. We were taken to Anatomy dissection hall for tutoring in Basic Anatomy course. A sign board welcomed us at the entrance :"WELCOME..HERE THE DEAD TEACHES THE ALIVE". With shivers,we entered the hall to see cadavers lined up. Few weak hearted girls, that could not stand the stench, that had heard about stories of ghosts , fainted at the first sight and were given first aid.
I could sense the essence of life then !!

During this session,my professor taught us an important skill. He told us to imitate as what he did. He touched a brain specimen with his finger, and put in his mouth. Few of us imitated him ,but none correctly .Yeah..He touched the specimen with his little finger and put the ring finger in his mouth. None of us OBSERVED him...we learnt that OBSERVATION is the key !!
OBSERVE !!

2.This happened during the first year ,Basic Instrumentation course. We got a tutor, from south of Tamil Nadu to teach us. At the end of the class, she asks us to "reproduce" what she had taught . Having a medical b/g ,We would say" No Ma'm, not here Ma'm, not right now Ma'm" .But she would insist us that we "reproduce", creating a laugh riot in the class. It went to the extent that she reported the incidents in the staff room, but to create an another round of laugh riot..
But,she was such a sweet teacher and we liked her very much.
Pity : She is no more, expired in a road accident. RIP+

3. This happened during our clinical postings at Otology/Audiology dept. The case files were stacked at the Doctors desk, and he reviewed the files for priority treatment .He picked up a file for a patient named "Baby". The patient was called inside..

Doctor : Kuzhanthai enge ma?
Pt of 60 yrs old :En peru thaanga Baby....

4.During a busy week day ,i was taking case history for a patient pertaining to her ear disease.

Me : Inniku thanni vanduchaa??
Pt : Ama Sir, 4 kodam thaan vitaanga.....
Me : Kathula thanni vanduchaa??

I meant the ear discharge.....Namma makkal is more worried about "water" than anything else !!

5.Again,during a busy crowded week day , the attendant called for a patient. The called person got in,We did the evaluation for an hour ,but to find normal results. We told her not to worry about her condition.

She said : Naan patient illenga..patient velila otkaandu irukaanga, naan avanga kooda vanthen..
We :itha munnadiye solli irukalaam illaya ??
She :Pt peyara koopithathum naan ezhunthiruchen, attentant amma enna ulla ittanthiruchu....

My Dad/Brother has their happenings to share ,but few censored as i have "magalir"readers too......

NOTE: Iam not a Doctor, but a Health Care Professional (Will let you know what Iam) . The above mentioned incidents were experienced at the Medical College Hospital where i studied.

Nice ones. One question: what is the purpose of instrumentation cours in medicine?. Is it something to various instruments?

My brother and dad used to mention their experiences in medical colleges. Hilarious..
